Itinerary

7:00 AM

We leave the hustle and bustle of Ho Chi Minh City behind and take a 1.5-hour journey to the now-peaceful rural district of Cu Chi.

8:30 AM

Upon arriving at the Ben Duoc tunnels, you will view a short documentary film that explains the tunnels’ history and the war from the Vietnamese point of view.

After that, your guide will take you on a tour through the actual tunnels where you'll learn more about the living conditions and the hardships the tunnel’s residents faced, and the ingenuity utilized to maintain life in the tunnels, which included weapon workshops and booby traps. You will have an opportunity to navigate an authentic Viet Cong tunnel, visit bunkers designed as kitchens, meeting rooms, weapon areas, give your best shot at a firing range, and much more.

For a snack, you can try the local specialty – cassava, a starchy root - that sustained Viet Cong fighters for years.

1:00 PM

We conclude the tour by returning you to the War Remnants Museum (outside)/ your hotel at around 1:00 PM.

TOUR FAQs

What to prepare for the trip?

Bring?
  • Hat
  • Sun cream
  • Mosquito repellent
  • Appropriate footwear
Wear?

We do not have a dress code for our tours however, dress standards are conservative throughout Asia, especially outside major cities. To respect this and for your own comfort, we strongly recommend modest clothing. This means clothing that covers your shoulders and knees. Loose, lightweight, long clothing is both respectful and cool in the predominantly hot Asian climate.

If you choose to crawl through the tunnels, please be aware that your clothes might get dirty. Appropriate footwear is recommended for this activity.

Is tipping customary in Vietnam?

Although our trips are inclusive of all costs and we ensure our guides and local staff are paid fairly, if you're happy with the services provided a tip - though not compulsory - is appropriate. While it may not be customary to you, it's of great significance to the people who will take care of you during your travels and inspires excellent service. Although can be difficult to source we advise you to carry small notes of local currency each day to make tipping easier.

The following amounts are per person suggestions based on local considerations and feedback from our past travellers:

  • Restaurants: Local markets and basic restaurants - round your bill up to the nearest US$1. More up-market restaurants we suggest 10% to 15% of your bill.
  • Drivers: You may have a range of drivers on your trip. Some may be with you for a short journey while others may be with you for a few days. We would suggest a higher tip for those more involved with the group, however, we suggest US$1-US$2 per day for drivers.
  • Your Tour Guide: We suggest US$3-US$5 per day for your tour guide for outstanding service throughout your trip.

Of course, you are free to tip more or less as you see fit, depending on your perception of service quality and the length of your trip. Remember, a tip is NOT compulsory and should only be given when you receive excellent service. However, please don't tip with coins, very small denomination notes, or dirty and ripped notes. This is regarded as culturally as an insult.

Ben Duoc Tunnels with Hue Oct 2022 • Couples We had a great tour with Hai. We visited the less touristy area of tunnels and there was only one other small group there at the same time. Hue was extremely knowledgeable and interesting and he made the car ride enjoyable with his stories and facts about Vietnam. The tour itself was fascinating and helped us understand the reality of the war. Thankyou Hue and our very safe driver Tang.

Reasonably priced Ben Duoc Cu Chi Tunnel tour We did the Ben Duoc Cu Chi Tunnel tour with Mr T. We 2 and my parents were given a luxury van. Ben Duoc tunnel is very less touristy and if you want a more authentic Cu Chi experience, Ben Duoc should be your choice. Mr T was an excellent guide and he showed us and explained to us every details possible. Ms Trung at the office was also very helpful and approachable and seem to take good care of clients. Innoviet Tour is one or the reasonably priced Ben Duoc tour - highly recommended.

Hai our guide made the trip so much more enjoyable Review of: Private Half Day Ben Duoc Tunnels Tour My partner and I booked a tour to see the Ben Duoc tunnels. First of all our guide Hai was so great - chatty, excellent in explaining the tunnels but also was really generous when sharing info about Vietnam's history including a bit about his family's part in that which was really interesting for us. The tunnls themselves were fascinating and really quiet which was oddly calm. We had a flight out of Saigon in the afternoon so were dropped straight at the airport which was handy - thanks! Highly reccomend.

We went to the cu chi tunnels. Great service. Nice drive out of the city to the real tunnel-remnants, not to the touristy place Ben Duoc. We have an excellent English-speaking guide Clas. Would recommend both Clas and Innoviet!

We booked two tours with Innoviet and everything is wonderful. It started already with our first contact by email. They are very friendly, reply to emails quickly and they are really helpful in advising the right tour that you are looking for based on your request. Our first tour was the Cu Chi tunnels. They recommended the less touristic Ben Duoc instead of Ben Dinh a touristy area and that was really a good choice. The guide was very friendly, speaks good English and have depth knowledge about the war. If you combine this tour with a visit to the War museum you get a really good impression of the history of the country. Our second tour was the 3-day Mekong Delta. It was a great experience with cycling through villages, boat trips, floating market and local markets and of course a stay at a homestay. We really liked that one and stayed at a family with three generations. The boat trips were also very nice and they arranged a nice and decent hotel in Can Tho. The experienced guide had a lot of humor and knowledge about the country's culture and history. That really makes a difference. If you want to make sure that you book the right company for your tour time in the SouthVietnam, I really recommend Innoviet.

We booked the group tour (maximum 8 people). It turned out to just be my partner and I together with the driver and our guide, Huy, which was great. On the Cu Chi Tunnels, we are going to a much quieter place which I loved. Much better than crowds and lines. The tunnels were fascinating. Going into the tunnels made me a little nervous, especially with the bugs, but Huy made us both feel comfortable. Definitely crawl your way through the tunnels, it is an experience.

Visiting Cu Chi is on our bucket list because we love history and culture. Our guide Huy was unbelievably knowledgeable. Definitely recommend going in a small group to Ben Duoc because it is a lot easier when going through the tunnels and the area is much nicer to see when there aren't big tourist group around!

Our family had a great morning with Innoviet. Hai was our guide. He was friendly, polite and knowledgeable. Ben Duoc tunnels located far away than the main tourist ones. Not crowded at all and you can have time to try everything. The big guys would struggle to get into the tunnels. They have to crawl.

Booked the Cu Chi Tunnels tour to Ben Duoc one day before the tour started. We were the only people in tour, which was brilliant! Thinh was a great guide providing us tons of information in the car making the journey quicker than ever. The tunnels were less busy. Thinh and his knowledge made it one of the wonderful tours we have during 3 weeks in Vietnam.
