Experience the Spectacle: Vietnam National Day 2025 in Hanoi

1. What Makes 2025 National Day Extraordinary - a naval parade at sea

Vietnam’s 80th National Day, celebrated on September 2, 2025, stands out not simply as a patriotic anniversary—but as a moment of national renewal, unity, and strength. Beyond the traditional military parade in Hanoi, this year marks a historic first: a naval parade at sea, featuring submarines, surface ships, and naval aircraft, adding a grand maritime dimension to the commemoration.

A Navy in Motion — First-Ever Maritime Parade

  • Historic Maritime Display: For the first time ever, Vietnam’s National Day celebrations include a naval parade in Khánh Hòa Province, showcasing Kilo-class submarines (Unit 189), surface vessels, Coast Guard ships, border defense units, and naval aircraft.

  • Top-Level Precision and Readiness: The Naval Air Brigade No. 954 has been rigorously training elite pilots on Ka-28 and DHC-6 aircraft to execute flawless formation flights.

Naval forces conducted manifold drills—including flag salutes, vessel coordination, and technical maintenance—to ensure mission readiness. All equipment has been thoroughly inspected.

This naval showcase powerfully symbolizes Vietnam’s maritime guardianship and defence maturation—a fitting tribute to its 80-year journey.

2. On Land: The A80 Ground Parade in Hanoi

Simultaneously, the main A80 Grand Parade unfolds at Ba Đình Square:

  • Time & Scale: Begins at 6:30 AM, featuring over 15,600 personnel across 61 formations. Military hardware returns for the first time since 1985—tanks, artillery, missile systems, and modern UAVs included.
  • Global Solidarity: Military delegations from Russia, China, Laos, Cambodia, and Belarus march alongside Vietnamese troops, emphasizing international friendship.

3. On Sky: Air Show Over Hanoi

Adding to the grandeur of the National Day celebration, Vietnam’s Air Force will take to the skies in a breathtaking aerial display. Fighter jets, transport aircraft, and helicopters are expected to soar over Ba Dinh Square in perfect formation, painting the sky with national colors.

  • Fighter Jet Formation: Precision flying symbolizes Vietnam’s strength and discipline.
  • Helicopter Flyover: Carrying giant national flags and banners across Hanoi’s skyline.
  • 80th Anniversary Tribute: Special sky-writing trails and synchronized maneuvers to honor 80 years of independence.

This aerial performance not only stirs patriotic pride among Vietnamese citizens but also captivates international visitors who may have never seen Hanoi from such a spectacular perspective.
