Otherwise, in my opinion, it can be soon disappointed when you visit Cai Be floating market if you are expecting that it’s the same with Cai Rang floating market. So that you should skip the floating market and spend time for other activities while travel to Mekong Delta during Tet

• Price can be overcharged

Don’t be afraid. This is NOT a scam. Travel to Mekong Delta during Tet is not the only case, you still can be overcharged nearly everywhere. This happens to every people in our country, even local people. We want you to remind that because some tourists didn’t know about this and they soon felt unhappy.

 

Overcharging everything during Tet Holiday is a normal thing on Tet holiday. The reason is the food is very hard to find during Tet, all of the food was bought by local people before Tet. They will keep the food for storage. So that makes food is difficult to find until the fourth day after Tet. And it’s the same with other kinds of service. So prepare yourself!

• The worst day to travel to Mekong Delta are two days before Tet and three days after Tet

This is the time when local people in Mekong Delta prepare and celebrate Tet holiday. So that most of the service during this time will not be available. Most of the travel agencies in Ho Chi Minh City will try to arrange you a day trip to Mekong Delta. And with me, this is the easy way to travel to Mekong Delta during Tet holiday. But for some people who love exploring new things. I suggest you should book a homestay in Bến Tre Province or Vĩnh Long province, Tiền Giang province. Then hire a bicycle and go around the villages and gardens

• After Tet, traffic back to HCMC will be extremely crazy

If you are planning to come back to Ho Chi Minh City from Mekong Delta. You should stay away from those days. This is the time when local people move back to Ho Chi Minh City and back to work. After the 10th of February, everything will be back to normal and you can visit the biggest floating market in Mekong Delta - Cai Rang floating market.

• Best time to visit Cai Rang Floating Market

For anyone who wants to visit Cai Rang Floating Market, I suggest you should visit this place at the time around before Tet Holidays. This is the perfect time for visiting Cai Rang floating market. The reason is that, during this time, the market will be really busy. Local people will be in rush for transporting the products to other provinces.

 

You can also see the boats or small sampans carrying many buckets of flowers and deliver them to the land market. If you want to see this scene, it will worth your time to travel to Mekong Delta during Tet Besides that, there are also other floating markets which are also interesting and less touristy. They are Ngã Năm Floating Market in Sóc Trăng province or Ngã Bảy Floating Market in Hậu Giang province. Though the way to those floating market is a little bit difficult.

• Book a Mekong Delta homestay if you want to stay overnight here

Another option for anyone who wants to travel to Mekong Delta during Tet by yourself. You can book a homestay in Ben Tre Province, Tiền Giang Province or Vĩnh Long province, Cần Thơ City as well. When you book a room, you can ask or contact them directly if they can offer to you a bicycle. When you don’t have to spend time visiting Cai Rang floating market, hanging around by bicycle or enjoy your private time in a homestay is not a bad idea.
